Summary

Typhoo Organic Three Tulsi tea is a refreshing caffeine-free beverage. Before meals or after, this herbal infusion feels light on the palate. We also like the staple-free bags.

Despite their name, herbal teas are not true teas at all. They are infusions made using dried fruits, flowers, herbs, spices- ingredients that are naturally rich in minerals and vitamins. Herbal teas have been around for centuries but they lately gained popularity due to the health-promoting properties they offer. Available in a wide range of tastes and flavors, herbal teas are a tempting alternative to sugar-loaded beverages.

With its select range of teas and fruit infusions, Typhoo entered the Indian market in 2008. Black tea, flavored tea, green tea, fruit infusions- Typhoo is a brand that offers flavors that match different moods. After trying three variants from the herbal tea range, we were intrigued to try the three tulsi variant.

Does it taste fresh? What about the aroma? Before or after meals? How do I prepare the Typhoo Organic Three tulsi blend? Our Typhoo Immunity Three Tulsi review covers this and more.

Did You Know- ‘Typhoo’ is a Chinese word that means ‘doctor’.

1. Packaging

The teabags are packed in staple-free bags. Big plus! These infusion bags are further sealed in separate paper envelopes.

We also appreciate the size of the tea bag threads- they are long enough for large mugs.

Did You Know- FSSAI banned the use of staple pins in tea bags since 2019. This step was taken because tea bags expand when they come in contact with water. If these tea bags are sealed with a staple pin, chances are the pin gets loose and can be ingested by the consumer.

2. Form Factor

Typhoo organic herbal infusion three tulsi tea is not a fine powder. We opened a teabag to examine the contents and noticed a coarse mix of dried tulsi leaves.

3. Ingredients

This caffeine-free herbal infusion is made using three types of tulsi leaves. These are- Rama, Vana, and Krishna tulsi.

4. Flavor

Typhoo immunity three tulsi organic tea tastes fresh! This tea displayed a robust flavor of Tulsi with mildly astringent notes. Overall, this tea has a soothing effect.

This herbal concoction is truly refreshing! For a burst of minty freshness or after a long day at work, this caffeine-free tea is a decent option to start or end the day with.

5. Colour

When we examined the tea bag during our dry testing stage, it had an earthy brown color. As leaves dry up, they naturally turn from green to brown. Post-infusion, our tea has warm and pale notes of muddy brown.

PS – The brand recommends steeping one tea bag in a cup of warm water and letting it sit for 3-5 minutes. You can steep the bag for longer as per preference. To enhance the taste, adding a dash of honey is recommended.

6. Nutritional Information

Following is the caloric breakdown for 100 g of Typhoo immunity three tulsi tea-

321.93 kcals divided into 63.72 g of carbohydrates, 1.49 g of fat, and 13.41 g of protein with 0.5 g of sugar per 100 g.

7. Price

The price of a herbal tea depends on the ingredients used and packaging materials amongst other things.

Comparing the three Tulsi tea by Typhoo to other Tulsi infusions, we observed the former is priced slightly higher. A box of 20 tea bags is priced at Rs 210/-.
