1. Anumita Saxena Lakhara

Our first winner was Anumita Saxena Lakhraa’s guilt-free gujiya recipe. She tried preparing a healthy version of the gujiya by incorporating the use of whole wheat flour.

The table holds the details of the ingredients required:

For filling For dough
  • 200 gm of Mava / Khoya
  • ½ cup Desiccated coconut
  • ½ cup Kishmish/Raisins
  • ¼ cup Chironji
  • ½ cup coarsely ground Almonds
  • ½ cup dried rose petals
  • 2 tsp Cardamom/Elaichi powder
  • 100 gm Brown sugar
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • ¼  cup bareek Suji/ semolina
  • ¼  cup milk
  • 2 tbsp Desi ghee
  • Water as required

  • Start with kneading the dough by mixing all the required ingredients. Now slowly add the water to make a semi soft dough. Ensure that the dough is neither too soft nor too hard.
  • Once the dough is prepared, start with the preparation of the filling by mixing all the ingredients and keep it aside.
  • Now shape small balls from the dough and flatten them using the rolling pin to create small thin chapatis.
  • For shaping the gujiya, you can either use a gujiya mold or follow the steps as shared in my reel.
  • In order to tightly seal the gujiyas, mix dry whole wheat flour with some water to make a paste. Apply the paste along the edges to ensure the gujiyas are nicely packed.
  • You can fry these gujiyas in two ways : In an air fryer or Deep-frying. To air fry, place the gujiyas in the air fryer for 15 min.
  • For deep-frying, take oil in a pan, heat it and fry till they are golden brown.

The gujiya recipe by Jyotsna was our third favorite recipe wherein she had prepared mini pink color gujiyas.
