Our Review Factors

What were the parameters we set while reviewing Cremica Cornflakes Digestive Biscuits?

In order to find out what makes these biscuits different from regular digestive biscuits, we took into account the taste, the texture, the ingredients, and the nutrition values.

1. Taste

Did these biscuits have a rounded sweetness? Was the characteristic earthiness present in the flavor? Did these have the addictive quality? Finally, would these taste good with a cup of tea?

2. Texture

Typically eaten by dunking in a cup of tea, digestive biscuits tend to disintegrate when wet. Keeping this in mind, we tested how crisp these biscuits were. This also spoke of the freshness.

Did these have a fibrous bite? How were cornflakes added, crushed in the dough or topped?

Compared to regular digestive biscuits, do these truly contain more fiber? Do these make for a good protein source? And are these devoid of added colors and flavors?

4. Other Parameters

The price, packaging, shelf life was decoded here.

How did Digestive biscuits get their name?

In the 19th century, some Scottish doctors invented these biscuits with the aim of aiding digestion. These were thought to have the same properties as an antacid, as the biscuits contain sodium bicarbonate too.

Aroma + Appearance

These are packed in a tray and looked pretty identical in size and thickness. None of the biscuits were broken, and the brown hue on them gave the impression that they were well-baked. The biscuits had the brand name embossed with some holes across the surface.

There was no prominent aroma.

Taste + Texture

These biscuits were yum! They tasted exceptional when dunked in a cup of masala chai.

The sweetness was balanced and these had a pleasing taste, overall. In the sense, you’d want to go back for some more biscuits.

These had a fibrous bite with a subtle grittiness coming from crushed cornflakes and oats.

Fiber content

Digestive biscuits have around 0.5 grams of fiber in a 15-gram serve. Cremica Cornflakes Digestive Biscuits have 0.69 grams of the same. The difference is not too vast. So what makes them stand out?

Not a lot, to be honest. These biscuits use refined wheat flour as the main ingredient with sweeteners like sugar, invert syrup, and honey, and also additives like leavening agents and acidity regulators, that digestive biscuits normally use as well.
