Our Review Factors
How did we review Vadilal Gourmet Ice Cream review?
The flavor, texture, and consistency were parameters that led the review. We also noted the ingredients, the packaging, and shelf life.
Pista and chocolate-coated almonds are two of the key components. We gauged the flavor intensity of these elements and if or not they work well together. Next, we checked the sweetness and whether the addition of sugar (and other sweeteners) tasted balanced. The final sub-parameter, if the the ice cream tasted fresh and natural.
2. Texture & Consistency
Ice creams made using full cream milk tend to have a richer consistency. Moreover, they taste smooth across the palate. Could we taste any undesirable graininess? Is it icy?
As for texture, were the nuts crunchy or had they turned soggy?
3. Other Parameters
Here, we recorded the price, packaging, and other non-tasting parameters.
Vadilal Gourmet Pistachio Ice Cream – Detailed Review
Price + Packaging
This ice cream comes in a single-serve tub. It has a premium-looking red and black packing. This holds 120 ml of content, is priced at Rs 50/- with a shelf life of one year.
Water, milk solids, sugar, chocolate coated almonds (13%- almond, sugar, water, cocoa solids), choco fudge (7%- edible vegetable oil (palm oil), sugar, water, liquid glucose, milk solids, cocoa solids, edible common salt, emulsifier (322), artificial flavoring substances (vanilla), emulsifier (471), stabilizer (412, 466, and 407), with synthetic food colors (102, 133), and nature-identical pista flavoring substances are all the ingredients used.
Aroma + Appearance
This had a pleasing green hue with nut bits. There was no icy layer, impressive! This emitted a sweet, milky aroma. Nothing undesirable, but not prominent on pistachio either.
Taste + Texture
First up, the sweetness here was on point. This pistachio ice cream had a swirl of chocolate passing through the entire tub. It lends a twist of flavor in certain bites, we liked this. As for the flavor, this was primarily a milky ice cream, the flavor of pistas was barely present. We could taste some almond-like nuttiness and chocolate, and that was about it.
Although almonds do add a fresh crunch and combine well with the creamy ice cream – the lack of pista (flavor and otherwise) was a disappointment.
