Price + Packaging
There’s a pouch inside a cardboard cylinder that holds 200 grams of the hot chocolate mix. This is priced at Rs 499/- and has a shelf life of nine months.
Main Ingredients
Country Bean hot chocolate ingredients are dark couverture buttons (cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, sugar, vanilla, soya lecithin), cocoa powder, sugar, cornflour, and salt.
How we made it
Unlike traditional preparation, we did not have to add the mix and let it boil with milk. We added 20 grams of the mix to a cup of warm milk and stirred the contents until combined. As the beverage started coming together, the hot chocolate started getting thicker.
Our observations at this stage were that the powder doesn’t form lumps and is quite easy to mix in milk with just a spoon. You wouldn’t really need blenders or whisks.
Aroma + Appearance
The aroma was enticing, very chocolatey.
In the dry state, this had a mud brown appearance and once it was mixed in milk, it turned dark brown.
Flavor + Consistency
DELICIOUS! Country Bean hot chocolate had the right amount of chocolate flavor and sweetness. It didn’t have a milk chocolate-like sweetness, it was more like dark chocolate. That said, this wasn’t bitter.
The mix also contains some salt, which enhanced the cocoa flavor.
As for the consistency, on stirring, this gradually turned thicker, thanks to the cornflour.
