Review Of Amul Cheese Spreads

We picked seven Amul Cheese Spread Flavours and tasted them multiple ways over a span of two days. We used them inside plain veggie sandwiches, with crackers and on plain bread to see which amongst all the flavors of Amul Cheese Spreads deliver a delicious experience. Here is what we found out.

Mishry Top Pick (Classic) – Amul Cheese Spread Punchy Pepper

Why did we choose Amul Cheese Spread Punchy Pepper as our Top Pick (Classic)?

*Based on Mishry's internal reviews and ratings

We chose the Punchy Pepper Amul Cheese Spread as our Top Pick because of the tasty pepper flavor. Cheese and pepper is a classic flavor combination that goes well with almost everything. Through and through, the mild heat coming from black pepper powder paired well with crackers, plain bread, and even when used inside a veggie sandwich. It is definitely true to its pepper promise.

The Punchy Pepper Amul Cheese Spread has a thick and creamy consistency that is easy to spread on an untoasted bread as well. Visually, we could see a lot of specs of crushed black pepper which in turn delivered on the flavor as well.

The list of ingredients mentions Milk solids, Cheese, Common salt, Black pepper powder (0.8%), Emulsifiers, and Preservatives. A 200 gram tub of Punchy Pepper is priced at Rs 85/-.

Also Recommend (Spicy) – Amul Cheese Spread Red Chilli Flakes

We also recommend the Amul Cheese Spread Red Chilli Flakes for all the people who like spicy spreads. Taste-wise, the first thing you notice is the creamy cheesiness of this spread and the chili punch comes in later. Unlike some chilli-based spreads, the spice levels are balanced and not unidimensional.

This is an orangey-peach colored spread and we can see a lot of red chilli flavors spread generously in the tub. As the consistency of this spread is a tad bit thinner than our Top Pick, it can be used in rolls, sandwiches and even as a dip for a party platter.

The list of ingredients mention Milk solids, Cheese, Common salt, Chilli flakes (1%), Emulsifiers, Preservatives. A 200 gram tub of Amul Cheese Spread Red Chilli Flakes is priced at Rs 85/-.

Also Recommend (Herby) – Amul Cheese Spread Oregano Pickle

Why do we Also Recommend Amul Cheese Spread Oregano Pickle?

Bold! We picked the Amul Cheese Spread Oregano Pickle as our herby recommendation because of the bold oregano flavor. The herbiness that cuts through this cheese dip is ideal as an accompaniment with garlic bread or in a sandwich. Even when had with crackers and on plain bread, the seasoning of this cheese spread was spot on.

We could see a lot of oregano flakes in this cheese spread, and the consistency was thick.

The list of ingredients mention Milk solids, Cheese, Common salt, Oregano leaves flakes (0.4%), Emulsifiers, Preservatives. A 200-gram tub of this Amul Cheese Spread is priced at Rs 85/-.

Taste Test – Amul Cheese Spread Jeera

Jeera in a cheese spread? Jeera and cheese is not a combination we encounter every day. So, we were as curious to know about this as you are right now. As soon as we opened the tub of Amul Cheese Spread Jeera, we got a strong cumin aroma. We could see a lot of jeera tossed in this tub of cheese spread.

Taste wise, we could clearly taste the jeera. Each bite of the cheese spread had packed in the strong cumin flavor. That being said, this isn’t something we would go back to due to its limited usability. Where would you use this jeera cheese spread? With some unsalted crackers? Would you spread it on toast for breakfast. Maybe. Does it have a regular use like a plain or pepper cheese spread? Definitely not.

The list of ingredients mention Milk solids, Cheese, Common salt, Cumin powder (0.7%), Emulsifiers, Preservatives. A 200 gram tub of this Amul Cheese Spread is priced at Rs 85/-.

Taste Test – Amul Cheese Spread Yummy Plain

A batch of piping hot homemade garlic bread begs for a cheesy dip. Enter, Amul Cheese Spread (Yummy Plain). The saltiness of the spread and the cheesy flavor are in harmony with each other which makes it a crowd pleaser.

There’s a lot you can do with a plain cheese spread. Apply it on sandwiches, dunk some garlic bread in it, use it inside a quesadilla or even put it between a pizza base to make a cheesy overload pizza. The only reason it did not make it to our Top Pick list was the lack of wow-factor in this cheese spread.

The list of ingredients mention Milk solids, Cheese, Common salt, Emulsifiers, Preservatives. A 200 gram tub of the Amul Cheese Spread – Yummy Plain is priced at Rs 85/-.

Taste Test – Amul Cheese Spread Spicy Garlic

Garlic and cheese is a classic pairing that has been used over the years to curate some aromatic and robust dishes. When the pack said ‘Spicy garlic’, we had our hopes pinned to a spicy, savory spread. Sadly, there is nothing spicy or garlicky about this spread. All the Amul Cheese Spreads delivered on the flavor apart from the Spicy Garlic variation. In fact, this was closer to the yummy plain cheese spread we tasted. The garlic flavor is too subtle to be noticed when had with bread or crackers.

The list of ingredients mentions Milk solids, Cheese, Common salt, Garlic powder (0.5%), Emulsifiers, Preservatives. A 200 gram tub of the Amul Cheese Spread – Spicy garlic is priced at Rs 85/-.

Taste Test – Amul Cheese Spread Tikka Dip

Someone says tikka and we instantly think of tandoor-charred chunks of tikka, generous squeezes of lemon, and a vat of green chutney. This mint-colored tikka dip by Amul has a mild green chilli kick that can be paired with soya or chicken tikkas at home. That being said, the coriander flavor was a tad bit bitter, and we didn’t like it as much. People who like desi-style spreads would like this one.

The list of ingredients mentions Milk solids, Cheese, Common salt, Coriander and chilli paste (8%), Emulsifiers, Preservatives. A 200 gram tub of the Amul Cheese Spread Tikka Dip is priced at Rs 85/-.The shelf life of this spread is 6 months, unlike the rest of them.

Conclusion

After a two day cheese fest at the Mishry HQ, we landed on our winners for the tastiest Amul Cheese Spreads under three main categories – Classic, Spicy and Herby. Under the classic category, Punchy Pepper won hands down because it was the most delicious cheese spread amongst all the contenders. We chose Red Chilli Flakes as our Spicy recommendation and Oregano Pickle as our Herby recommendation because they both delivered on the promised flavors.
