Our Review Factors

What were we looking for when reviewing Hide & Seek Choco Chip Creme Sandwich biscuits?

Well-baked crisp biscuits with a smooth creme and a decent quantity of choco chips. In addition to this, we gauged the appearance, aroma, freshness, and flavor of the cremes.

1. Flavor

Bold or subtle, how are the cremes flavored? Do the two elements result in overly sweet bites? Did the center filling taste fresh or was it synthetic-tasting? What about the fruit variants, did they taste natural?

Is the creme evenly spread or were there some empty bites?

The four variants we reviewed- Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Orange.

1. Vanilla

Price & Packaging

In addition to the outer wrapper, the biscuits are neatly stacked in a tray. There was one broken biscuit. A 120-gram pack (100 + 20) is priced at Rs 30/- and has a shelf life of eight months. There are 10 biscuits in a pack.

Main Ingredients

Refined wheat flour (maida), sugar, refined palm oil, choco chips (12%) (sugar, edible vegetable fat (hydrogenated oil), cocoa solids, emulsifier (vegetable origin- soya lecithin), artificial flavor- vanilla), invert sugar syrup, cocoa solids (1.5%), raising agents (INS 500 (I), INS 500 (II)), iodized salt and emusifier of vegetable origin (soya lecithin), diacetlytartaric, fatty acid esters.

This also has permitted natural food color (150 D) and artificial flavoring substances- vanilla and chocolate.

The layer of creme was quite thick.

Aroma & Appearance

None of the biscuits were broken or cracked, they were uniform in shape and size. The biscuits had a generous quantity of small-sized chocolate chips and a thick layer of vanilla creme. The aroma was a mix of vanilla and chocolate.

Taste & Texture

The crispness of the biscuits was spot on. Neither too hard nor crumbly, these had the perfect bite. The creme filling was smooth and devoid of inconsistencies.

The sweetness was moderate as the chocolate flavor of the biscuits mixes with the vanilla sweetness. Talking about flavors, chocolate was more prominent than vanilla in each bite. That said, the flavors paired well with one another.

2. Chocolate

Price & Packaging

The price, packaging, and shelf life are the same as above. Despite being packed similarly, there were no broken pieces here.

Main Ingredients

Refined wheat flour (maida), sugar, refined palm oil, choco chips (12%) (sugar, edible vegetable fat (hydrogenated oil), cocoa solids, emulsifier of vegetable origin (soya lecithin), artificial flavor (vanilla), cocoa solids (4%), invert sugar syrup, raising agent (INS 503 (I), (INS 500 (II)), iodized salt, diacetlyartaric and fatty acid esters.

This also contains natural food color (150 D) and 129 and added flavors chocolate and vanilla.

The creme layer was marginally thinner than Vanilla.

Aroma & Appearance

None of the biscuits were broken or cracked, they were uniform in shape and size. The biscuits had a generous quantity of small-sized chocolate chips. The biscuits were a darker shade of brown as compared to the creme filling. These featured a chocolatey aroma that was inviting.

Taste & Texture

Chocolate biscuits, chocolate chips, and a chocolate filling- were these TOO sweet? No. The sweetness is rounded, thanks to the slight bitterness of the chocolate flavor. The creme centre is chocolate-vanilla flavored.

The biscuits were well-baked and had a prominent crunch. The creme was smooth and devoid of any undesirable grainy mouthfeel.
