Our Review Factors

Our Expectations, you ask? We are expecting an easy to cook RTE dish reminiscent of restaurant-like flavor with soft paneer. There should be no industrial taste.

We have set the following review factors for testing Haldiram’s Ready To Eat Shahi Paneer

1. Taste

We are looking at the following aspects here:

  1. The freshness of paneer. How does it taste?
  2. Overall flavor, richness, and seasoning of the gravy.
  3. Any industrial flavor observed?

Made with paneer as the star ingredient, Shahi Paneer is a rich and royal Indian dish. This creamy dish is cooked in an aromatic gravy which is typically a blend of tomatoes, cream, cashews, and a mix of aromatic spices. This dish has a mildly sweet and spicy flavor profile.

How did we make this? / Review Process

The pack mentions clear instructions on how to cook the gravy. There are three methods to heat this RTE meal :

  • Method 1: Immerse the pouch in boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Cut open and serve hot.
  • Method 2: Cut pouch, empty contents into a frying pan, heat on high setting for 3-5 minutes while stirring and serve hot.
  • Method 3: Cut pouch, and empty the contents into a microwave dish. Heat for 1-2 minutes and serve hot.

We opted for method 2 for heating this RTE Shahi Paneer gravy.

Aroma + Appearance

As the gravy is cooked, it releases a sweet, nutty fragrance reminiscent of the classic Shahi Paneer dish.

The color of the gravy is orangey.

Taste + Texture

In terms of taste, the gravy offers a fresh and delightful sweet-nutty flavor. The tomato flavor is subtle, not overpowering, and the overall seasoning appears well-balanced.

However, it’s important to note that there is a prominent cardamom flavor, which may not be liked by everyone.

Coming to the texture, Haldiram’s RTE Shahi Paneer has a thick restaurant-style gravy. It is rich, creamy and generously filled with ample pieces of paneer. The small, triangular paneer pieces are soft and easy to bite into.
