The Best Classic Pancake Mix – Detailed Review
We evaluated each contender in detail and in this section we have discussed the findings for the same :
1. Pillsbury Pancake Mix Classic – Mishry Top Pick
Pillsbury’s Classic Pancake Mix is our Top Pick considering the commendable texture it had. The pancakes rose well, and are thick and extremely fluffy. It has a soft bounce in them which we ADORE! Even after these were kept aside for 30 minutes, they did not lose out on the fluffy softness. Thumbs up!
The pre-prep stage was smooth as the batter was lump-free and easy to mix. As this is fairly neutral-tasting with a mix of sweet and salt, these would go well with any toppings of your choice.
One pack holds 180 gm of the product and is priced at Rs. 99. It has a shelf life of 8 months. This pancake mix comes in a blue color carton box. A 180 gm pack will yield around 7 to 9 medium-sized pancakes.
The main ingredients include: Refined wheat flour (maida), Sugar, Rice flour, Edible vegetable oil (palm), Baking powder (INS500(ii), INS541(i)), Dextrose, Iodised salt, Raising agents (INS341(i), INS500(ii)), Milk solids and anticaking agent (INS170(i)).
- Super fluffy texture.
- It cooks evenly.
- Batter is lump free.
- Has a pleasing neutral taste.
Looking for the fluffiest pancake mix with no flavorings? Why don’t you give Pillsbury Pancake mix a try.
2. Betty Crocker Classic Pancake Mix – Also Recommended
These pancakes came fairly close to our top pick in terms of texture. But Pillsbury still stands out because it was thicker and fluffier. There was no apparent difference in flavor when compared to Pillsbury. Both have almost similar tastes.
Betty Crocker’s Classic Pancake Mix has a yellow carton pack. It is priced at Rs. 130 for 250 gm. The total number of pancakes you can yield from a 250 gm pack is around 11 to 12. The shelf life is 9 months.
The main ingredients are Refined wheat flour (maida), Sugar, Rice flour, Edible vegetable oil (palm), Baking powder (Raising agent INS 500(ii)), Acidity regulator (INS541(i)), Dextrose, Iodised salt, Raising agents (INS341(i), INS500 (ii)), Milk solids and Anticaking agent (INS170(i)).

Busy mornings? Late night cravings? Betty Crocker’s Classic Pancake Mix is a quick way to indulge in fluffy pancakes.
3. Oui Pancake Mix Original
The pre-prep stage took a little longer in this case. Despite following the package instructions, the finished batter was too runny, necessitating a lot of adjustment. As a result, we recommend gradually adding the water and stopping in between to check if it has reached the desired consistency.
When compared to Pillsbury and Betty Crocker, the texture of these pancakes was not as good. It has a denser, more cakey texture, which is accentuated by the presence of vanilla. Taste-wise, the flavor of vanilla feels slightly overpowering. This could be a potential reason why these pancakes might not appeal to everyone.
The price of a 360 gm pack of Oui Pancake Mix is priced at Rs. 215. It comes with a shelf life of 9 months and will get you around 10 to 12 pancakes. It features a blue, white, and yellow carton pack.
The main ingredients : Refined wheat flour (maida), Sugar, Rice flour, Native starches, Milk solids, Raising agents (INS500 (ii), INS 541 (i)), Dextrose, Emulsifiers (INS475), Salt, Natural and NI flavoring substances (Butter, Vanillin).
- Vanilla flavor feels heavy on the palette.
- This has a cakey texture.
- Measurements provided are not correct.

4. The Baker’s Dozen Pancake Mix
We have no complaints about the texture. These pancakes are extremely soft and fluffy. The biggest downside of these pancakes is the artificial aftertaste which was pretty evident in every bite. We drizzled some pancake syrup on top but even that couldn’t mask it.
This eventually marred the entire experience and was one of the core reasons why this did not win.
The Baker’s Dozen Pancake Mix comes in a resealable pouch pack. The 400 gm pack costs Rs. 199 and has a shelf life of 1 year. A 400 gm pack will yield around 20 to 22 pancakes.
These are the main ingredients seen here : Refined wheat flour (maida), Milk solids (Milk powder), Sugar, Baking powder, Raising agent (INS500(ii)), and Iodised salt. It also contains artificial vanilla flavoring.
- Soft and fluffy texture.
- Undesirable aftertaste which marred the overall experience.
Our Top Picks & Recommendations
Why did Pillsbury get the title of Top Pick? Why is Betty Crocker Also Recommended?
After extensive testing, we can confidently state that Pillsbury was the best brand among the four that offered Classic Pancake Mixes. It had the most neutral flavor and the fluffiest texture.
We also like Betty Crocker’s Classic Pancake Mix. It lost solely because Pillsbury’s texture was greater and prevented it from winning.
