Nutrition Label (Main Ingredients + Nutritional Information)

Per 35 gm serving, these ladoos provide 147.4 kcal of energy, 11.3 grams of total carbohydrates, 11.7 grams of total fats and 5.5 grams of protein.

When compared to the carb content of besan ladoos (approx. 60 grams), these have a low carb content.

This sugar-free protein ladoo is made with the following – Seed And Nut Flours (Almonds, Sunflower Seeds, Watermelon Seeds, Flax Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Groundnut, Coconut Flour), Wheat Protein, Soy Flour And Whole Wheat Flour), 100% Sugar-Free Sweetener (Erythritol, FOS, Stevia), Ghee, and Cardamom.

The ingredient list looks pretty clean. As you can see in the list these are sweetened using 100% sugar-free sweeteners and free from refined sugar. Additionally, the brand also claims that these are free from maida and hydrogenated oils. Also, these are devoid of dextrose/maltodextrin and other high GI ingredients.

On thorough scanning of the ingredient list, we did not find any nasty ingredient and conclude that all the claims by the brand are true.

What are these sugar-free sweeteners? (Erythritol, FOS, Stevia). How does it affect blood sugar levels?

Let us have a quick look at the sugar-free sweeteners:

  • Erythritol – This is a sugar alcohol that is often used as a sugar substitute. It is said to be around 60 to 70% sweet as table sugar, however it is low calorie sweetener. It carries only 6% of the calories of sugar. The human body does not have the enzymes required to break down Erythritol. This is absorbed into the bloodstream and excreted in an unchanged form in the urine. Hence, it does not impact and raise the blood sugar levels.
  • FOS – FOS stands for Fructooligosaccharides. Essentially a carbohydrate found in plants, it is often used as a low calorie sweetener. This is mildly sweet and nondigestible which means they do not affect the blood sugar levels.
  • Stevia – Made from the leaves of the stevia plant, this is another low-calorie sweetener with antioxidant properties. Stevia contains compounds called diterpene glycosides. These compounds cannot be easily digested by the body. As a result, stevia passes through the body without causing any rise in the blood sugar levels.

Our Detailed Analysis

These ladoos have a pleasant looking rich brown color almost similar to besan ladoos but a slightly deeper touch. We could spot a lot of peanuts and almonds in these ladoos.

Out of the six ladoos in the box, only two of them were in a proper shape. The remaining ones we received were already broken right out of the box. The broken pieces however do not affect the taste but definitely impacts the overall experience.

These ladoos have a mild cardamom flavor and pleasant richness of ghee, without any lingering artificial aftertaste. The sweetness level of these ladoos is in the medium to high range.

They have a nutty and earthy undertone and delightful freshness. The best part is that the nuts and seeds are quite fresh and crunchy without any rancid taste.

There is absolutely no dryness in these ladoos. Though the texture of these ladoos themselves is fantastic, we have rated a 4 on 5. This is solely because when we received our pack we had only one-two ladoos that were unbroken. The packaging of the product definitely needs to be worked upon.
