Our Review Parameters
Our Zomato Intercity Food Delivery review was primarily based on our overall experience. We’ve taken into account the steps in the delivery process, the price, and the duration of delivery.
1. Delivery Experience
Our cravings within the city are taken care of thanks to the many many services, but what about intercity? We either have to wait for a friend to visit and bring us back some famous/iconic stuff or we have to fly out ourselves. Here, the food is flying to us. How different is the ordering process as compared to local orders? How is the food delivered from another city? What is the mode of transport used? Is it efficient?
How were the delicacies packed? Securely or it could have been better? For dishes that need refrigeration – can they endure the long journey?
Excluding the base price of the food items, what are the delivery and other charges, if any? Are the delivery charges fixed? Does it seem worth paying this amount?
What are the other charges Zomato levies? Packaging, taxes, others?
Is this a value for money experience?
The ETA is 24-48 hours from the time when the order is placed. What was our experience, were the orders delivered within the time frame or later? If you’re ordering it today for a special occasion – what’s the tentative ETA?
List of Food We ordered From Zomato Intercity Legends
We ordered some festive special food items (both, sweet and savory) from Zomato Intercity Legends. Our orders were placed with some iconic food outlets like –
- Balaram Mullick, Kolkata
- Shree Mahalaxmi, Bengaluru
- Laxmi Mishthan Bhandar (LMB), Jaipur
Why did we choose these specific outlets and dishes?
These are marked as must-try places and dishes. We chose what the place or location is known for/popular for.
|City||Place To Order From||Our Order|
|Kolkata||Balaram Mullick and Radharaman Mullick Sweets||Baked Rasgulla|
|Jaipur||Laxmi Mishthan Bhandar||Pyaaz Kachori|
|Bengaluru||Shree Mahalaxmi Sweets||Mysore Pak|
1. Baked Rasgulla from Kolkata
These baked rasgulla from Balaram Mullick Sweets were fresh to taste. For a better comparison of the freshness, these came quite close to freshly prepared ones from a local sweet shop. This tells us the travel environment for the rasgullas was apt. Thumbs up.
The packaging was neat and secure. The fact that there were no leakages was an indicator of the quality of packaging. The baked rasgullas were placed inside an aluminum container that was sealed. This container was placed in a white cardboard box and an external golden box that added the festive element. It was then wrapped in a Zomato Intercity packet.
The timely delivery was another pro. We placed the order on 10th October at 11:30 am and the ETA was 12th October, between 3-6 pm. This was delivered on the 12th at 3 pm.
Balaram Mullick and Radharaman Mullick Sweets, Kolkata, West Bengal
The original price of the baked rasgulla is Rs 460/- (10 pieces). Adding the delivery charges and taxes, the total bill amount was Rs 591.60/- but we paid Rs 391.60/- as we used a coupon code which allowed us a Rs 200/- off.
2. Pyaaz Kachori from Jaipur
The pyaaz kachoris from Laxmi Mishthan Bhandar were DELISH. Fresh and flavored to perfection, we get why LMB is called an iconic food joint in Jaipur. While the flavors were spot on, the texture can be improved by reheating the kachoris in an oven or an air fryer. This would bring back the crispiness of the exterior.
There were four large kachoris in a plastic container that had a reclosable lid and was also sealed with plastic.
This order was placed on the 10th of October at 12 pm and we were promised delivery on the following day between 3-6 pm. It was delivered at 12:20 pm on the 11th.
Laxmi Mishthan Bhandar, Jaipur, Rajasthan
The kachoris were priced at Rs 570/-. The total cost of our bill was Rs 711/- (Rs 570 + Rs 80 (delivery) + Rs 61 (taxes). We used the code ‘LOVELEGENDS’ and got a discount of Rs 100 and the final bill was Rs 611/-.
3. Mysore Pak from Bengaluru
This was heavenly and we could NOT stop at just one square of these ghee-loaded Mysore Pak from Bengaluru’s Shree Mahalakshmi Sweets. Super fresh, addictively sweet, and a melt-in-the-mouth texture, these Mysore Pak were packed in a pink-colored container which was sealed in cling film.
The order was placed on 10th October at 12:05 pm with the app showing estimated delivery on 11th October between 3-6 pm. We received our box of Mysore Pak on 11th October at 12:20 pm.
Shree Mahalaxmi Sweets, Bengaluru, Karnataka
One box of Mysore Pak is priced at Rs 555/- The delivery plus taxes amount to 135.05 (Rs 80 + Rs 55.05). Since this was the first order we placed with this number (device), it allowed us a discount of Rs 200 via a code.
