We checked how pronounced the flavor of cheese and chilli is and if they are in sync with each other. Do these taste fresh or is the cheese flavor artificial? What about the heat from jalapenos, was it too strong? We also checked for the overall seasoning.
2. Texture
We were looking for a snack that was crisp on the outside with a soft, cheesy stuffing. Was the stuffing added generously or was it skimped on? The cover, was it too thick or thin and crunchy? Did the filling offer a variety of textures- chewy, smooth, soft crunch, or was it unvarying? Do the potatoes add a chunky bite or are they pasty?

These come in a blue and green pack which is non-resealable. A 300-gram pack holding approximately 20 pieces is priced at Rs 200/- It has a shelf life of 1 year.
Main Ingredients
The main ingredients are potatoes (37%), processed cheese [27%- cheese, emulsifier (331 I), iodised salt, preservatives (202, 234)], bread crumb [refined wheat flour, dextrose, dried yeast, iodised salt], refined palm oil, batter [refined wheat flour, iodised salt, corn starch, thickener (412), sugar], sweet corn (5.92%), green jalapeno (3.7%), cheese powder [2.22%, stabilizer and emulsifier (331 III, 452 I), preservative (200)], water, dehydrated garlic powder, red chilli flakes, iodised salt, and parsley leaves.
How did we make these?
There are two options to cooking these- air frying and deep frying. We deep fried a batch of these pops. For this, we preheated the oil to 175 degrees, and added the pops without thawing. Once they developed a light golden surface, we took them off the heat, and served.
Aroma + Appearance
Despite being packed without a tray, these pops were not broken. They were round and cylindrical with some ice crystals in certain areas. This was not a major issue. There was no prominent aroma before cooking.
Once fried, we sliced open a pop to gauge the quantity and quality of the stuffing. It was vibrant- with red chilli flakes, green bits from parsley, yellow from the sweet corn, creamy beige tones from potatoes and cheese.
Taste + Texture
The overall flavor was delightful. It was mildly spicy and had a rich flavor of cheese. The corn kernels added a natural sweetness, and was tied together with the warm pungency of garlic. Green light!
Next, the texture. Like this had a variety of flavors, it had varying textures too. It started off with a light, crisp outer cover and led to chunky potatoes with chewy, juicy corn kernels. What we appreciate is the generous quantity of filling, there were no empty pockets.
