Any swiss chocolate can be rightly called so if it is produced in Switzerland. The real difference between a Swiss chocolate and those produced in other countries lies in the process and the use of ingredients. Swiss chocolates are the creamiest milk chocolate you will find.

When reviewing Nestlé Les Recettes De L’atelier Milk Chocolate, we looked for the following parameters

1. Taste

Is the chocolate creamy and milky, like Swiss milk chocolates are supposed to be? How fresh do the nuts taste? Is the sweetness appropriate? Any industrial taste or flavor observed?

2. Texture

It is a bar of milk chocolate, so we were looking for the overall texture to be smooth and have a creamy mouthfeel. Does it melt in the mouth or feel grainy? This chocolate contains nuts and berries too. How crunchy are nuts? Are the cranberries soft and chewy?

3. Other Observations

Appearance

How unique does this chocolate appear? Where are the nuts and berries placed on the chocolate bar? Are the nuts and cranberries whole-sized or chopped?

Temperature hugely impacts the texture of the chocolate. As it is a natural phenomenon for the chocolate to melt and reshape, without any fault of the brand, we did consider this aspect as a deciding factor.

Aroma

How inviting is the chocolatey aroma? Is it mild or strong?

Packaging

This is milk-based chocolate, so packaging becomes an area we closely examine. Many times the chocolate might ooze out during transit. In this segment, we check how sturdy is the packaging? Does it look attractive? Is there any tray inside that holds the chocolate pieces?

Appearance & Aroma: Nestlé Les Recettes De L’atelier Milk Chocolate has a decadent milk chocolate aroma. It is inviting!

Appearance-wise, these are dome-shaped rectangular bars. The top of the bar is filled with nuts and cranberries and has a light covering of chocolate. The nuts (almonds & hazelnuts) are whole-sized, whereas the cranberries are cut into pieces.

The nuts and berries lack an even distribution. There is an overload of nuts and berries seen in some bars, whereas others lack the same.

Cocoa is an essential ingredient required in the production of chocolates. But despite being a booming market, two-third of cocoa farmers live in extreme poverty. As an aid to these farmers and to create a better living for them, the Rainforest Alliance was formed. The Rainforest Alliance works with almost one million cocoa farmers mostly in West Africa, which produces about 70% of worldwide cocoa.
This product line uses Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa.

Our Findings

Taste: We couldn’t stop at a single bite. The decadent, creamy and milky chocolate flavor got us asking for more. The well-roasted and fresh-tasting nuts combine very well with the chocolate flavor. Moreover, the cranberries add a sweet and tangy touch.

The overall sweetness of this milk chocolate is appropriate. The nuts bring in the crunch and cut down on the sweetness. We did not experience any industrial taste, aroma, or flavor. Big thumbs up!

Texture: Silky smooth! Nestlé Les De L’atelier Milk Chocolate depicts mixed textures. The creaminess and smoothness of the chocolate are top-notch. It easily melts in the mouth.

The nuts are well-roasted and crunchy. Both, almonds and hazelnuts are crisp while the chewy cranberries add a wonderful layer of texture.
