Bolas Sweets – Detailed Review

In this section, we delve into our experience with each of the delectable sweets by Bolas. But before we proceed, let’s take a moment to highlight some shared characteristics found in Bolas sweets.

Let’s begin by shedding light on the packaging of these sweets. What sets Bolas sweets apart is their unique packaging. Handcrafted with love, these are packed using Modified Atmospheric Packaging (MAP) technology. This helps extend their shelf life without the need for any chemical preservatives.

What is Modified Atmospheric Packaging, you ask? It is essentially a food packaging technique that works by altering the composition of gases within a sealed pack. This provides optimal conditions that extend the shelf life and helps reduce the spoilage of perishable foods.

Moreover, upon opening these mithais make sure to refrigerate the remaining contents (Or not. Please check the individual pack for details). It is best to consume the sweet within 5 days of opening.

1. Mysore Pak

Our Experience

Bolas Mysore Pak has a rectangular shape. With each bite, it exudes a delightful freshness. We appreciate the soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture that ghee brings in. We loved the delicate, sweet flavor of green cardamom.

Speaking of sweetness, it might be on the higher side for some, but it’s important to note that Mysore Pak traditionally leans towards a sweeter taste profile.

Product Highlights

The outer box pack is beige and orange in color and showcases the origin of Mysore Pak through attractive graphics.

The packaging highlights the origin of this mithai and the noble figure behind its name. It was none other than the then-esteemed ruler of Mysore, Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, who bestowed this exceptional sweet with the name we all recognize today.

Inside this outer box, you’ll find a secondary plastic container that holds the Mysore Pak. It is securely sealed with both plastic wrapping and a lid. A 250 gm box is priced at Rs. 225. It has 5 months of shelf life.

The main ingredients are Sugar, Clarified Butter (Ghee), Milk, Gram flour (besan), Refined wheat flour, and Cardamom.

2. Anjeer Dry Fruits Barfi

Our Experience

Bolas Anjeer Dry Fruits Barfi has a thick, square-cut design. The primary nuts seen here are almonds, anjeer, and pistachio.

The almonds and pistachios are extremely fresh-tasting. They provide a delightful crunch and a pleasant contrast to the otherwise soft and chewy texture of anjeer. The anjeer seeds provide a satisfying crunch and the sweetness is balanced. We loved it!

Product Highlights

The Anjeer Dry Fruit Barfi has a yellow and maroon color box pack. Similar to Mysore Pak, the packaging features appealing graphics that reflect the origins of this delightful Barfi.

The Maharajas of Jaipur displayed remarkable wisdom in their choice of halwais for the royal kitchens. Bolas Anjeer Barfi is a proof of the remarkable recipe that has been cherished and handed down through generations.

The Barfi is placed in a separate container inside the box which is covered with a plastic seal and lid. The 250 gm box is priced at Rs. 395 and offers a shelf life of 4 months.

Here are the key ingredients: Anjeer, Almond, Sugar Pistachio, and Cardamom.
